wm | c7 | phoenix was built off iconic elements of what we think of today as a classic old-west town. the surrounding areas of the city of phoenix encompassed everything that was the “wild west”. we had some fun with this piece plugging in a large, fully detailed main (hero) character engaged in settling a dispute via duel. in the background you are met with the “bad weather” saloon which pays tribute to the classic song sung by cody tate on whiskey myers’s self-titled album. you also have anne marie’s general store featuring a brothel on the second floor that has a bunch of cowboys gathered outside watching the duel take place. we had to add in the circling vultures eyeing their next meal. simply put, we wanted to recreate the feeling of a very active, old west town when presenting whiskey myers’s print for their show in phoenix on march 17, 2023.
